2012 in review

December 30, 2012

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,200 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

The annual meeting of the Wynn Wood Homeowners Association has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 25th, at 7 PM. We will meet at the Harvest Years Senior Center on South Street in Camden. Meeting Postponed

January 11, 2011

The annual meeting scheduled for tonight, 1/11, has been postponed due to prediction of snow beginning this afternoon. Once the meeting is rescheduled another message will be posted.

Note from the webmaster: Residents “will” receive a “Community News Email” informing them of this post on January 12, 2011. No it was not sent late or “after” the fact. The email host automatically checks for new messages at 5:00 AM everyday and then sends an email if a new message is found. This is a default setting and can not be changed. In this case where a message needs to go out “fast” to the Community a manual “Community Email” will be sent (you should have already received that one). Thank you WWHOAWM.

Email Notification of Board Messages

December 31, 2010

Residents who have signed up with the new email sending host (MailChimp) to receive Community Email News and Information will also receive an email similar to this one whenever the Board posts a new message at the HOA Board Message page.

  • allows the board to communicate with you more efficiently using one contact list
  • allows you to receive an email notification of the new posts/messages
  • allows “one-stop-shopping”, you only need to sign-in/sign-up at one place (this email contact list with MailChimp)
  • you do not need to visit different pages to view a message or receive updates about the HOA and community
  • its a more efficient way to communicate with you, the residents

The HOA Board Messages are hosted with WordPress.com (a community blog). The entire blog can be viewed from the Community website at the HOA Board Messages page or directly from the WordPress.com page itself at Wynn Wood HOA Board Messages. If you have already signed up at the WordPress.com page to receive email notifications of new posts using the “Email Subscription” box/module located on the right side of the main page (this is a WordPress.com feature) you can un-subscribe from that notification list in order to reduce the amount of the same email notifications delivered to you.

Q. How do I know if I subscribed to the email notification subscription list on WordPress.com?
A. You receive this email twice. One email from WordPress notifying you of the post, and one from MailChimp (like this email).

Q. How do I know if I signed up with the new Community Email Contact list (MailChimp)?
A. You received this email.

If you have any questions you can reply to this email or send the WebMaster an email at wynnwoodhoawm.

Thank you,

Board Message – Yard Waste Vote Response

December 7, 2010

The Yard Waste proposal for the Wynn Wood community passed with a vote of 97 Yes and 31 No.

This means that 54 of our residents did not submit a vote on this important issue back to Kent County. A majority of communities in Kent County also voted their approval.

The new program goes into effect in January 2011.

Starting January 1st, 2011 it is prohibited to co-mingle “Yard Waste” with household garbage. This ban was imposed by the State of Delaware.

Board Message – Yard Waste Vote

November 6, 2010

The Wynn Wood Homeowners Association officers are urging residents to vote “Yes” to the proposed yard waste service.

We need a majority of people living in our garbage collection area to vote in favor of including yard waste service.  If a majority does not vote in favor we will all have to find some way of disposing of all garden waste materials.  This would include either hauling them to an area that will receive them, and possibly paying a fee to do so, or by establishing a compost pile in the back yard.

While composting is a good alternative, it takes a lot of attention and care.  If not cared for properly, a compost pile can create an attraction for mice and rats.

The officers are very concerned that residents may begin using our common areas to dump their materials.  If that happens, and we have to call someone to remove them, the resulting costs will be passed on to every homeowner and may result in even higher costs than those proposed by our current contractor.

Yes, another waste container will be required.  This may be kept behind your home or in your shed, if your garage can’t hold it.  Some may think they can simply bag these materials and hide them in the regular trash but, when discovered, this will result in your trash being left behind.

We do not want our common areas used as dumping grounds!  Please carefully consider voting “Yes“.

 Thank you.
